Another priority identified by the AusSeabed working group was to establish a QA tool, a set of standard specifications and an automated workflow for end users to quality assure Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) vessel surveys and assist in the survey planning process. This project has three stages:
- A user needs research phase will involve research into user needs, technical specifications and investigation of workflows for MBES capture, as well as identifying and prioritising quality assurance checks for key raw data types.
- An integration phase will focus on aligning the QA tools with the AusSeabed upcoming survey register and future national data centre discussed by the AusSeabed community.
- QA development stage will involve creating MBES specific planning checks, redeploying standard QA software checks, and developing metrics to automatically assess the quality of MBES products. The final stage will also incorporate Beta testing with partners.
The QA tool is about to enter stage 1 of development with Geoscience Australia and FrontierSI leading the project.
